Prediko builds your forecast and buying recommendations from each SKU’s sales history. That history belongs to the SKU it was recorded on. So when you replace a product with a new version, how you set it up in Shopify decides whether the history carries over.
What you need to do depends on how the change was made in Shopify.
1. You only edited the SKU code on the same variant
If you changed the SKU text on the same product variant in Shopify (the variant itself was not deleted or recreated), Prediko keeps the sales history attached to that variant. You don’t need to do anything.
If you notice missing sales history after renaming, contact our support team and we’ll check it for you.
2. The same SKU code exists on more than one product
If you created a new product in Shopify but kept the old SKU code, Prediko takes sales from all products with that SKU code into account.
Stock works differently. Prediko only uses the stock of one product, the Main Product. If the old version still has stock, that stock won’t be used in your future calculations. To include it, move all remaining stock to the version you’ve set as the Main Product.
To choose the Main Product, go to Settings → Inventory → Same SKU Mapping, search for the SKU, and select the correct product.

3. The new version has a different SKU code
If the new version has a different SKU code (for example, ABC-100 is replaced by ABC-200), Prediko treats it as a new SKU. It starts with no sales history, and Prediko can’t move the old SKU’s history over to it.
You have three ways to give the new SKU the right forecast:
Give the old version the new SKU code. Keep both versions active in Shopify and change the old version’s SKU code to match the new one. Prediko then combines their sales history, as described in option 2. Set the new version as the Main Product and move any remaining stock of the old version onto it.
Only do this if you’re happy to treat both versions as one SKU from now on, since their sales will be reported together going forward.Edit the plan manually. Use the old SKU’s sales as a reference and set the new SKU’s plan month by month on the Demand page. How to Edit Smart Model
Set it up before launch. If it’s a brand-new product, add it as a Draft product in Shopify and use Add plan on the Demand page to set its forecast before it goes live. How to Plan for a Newly Launched Product
Note that refreshing your plan overrides manual edits, so re-check the new SKU’s plan after a refresh. Re-Plan: Why you should Refresh your Plan Regularly
Once the new version is live
Stop reordering the old SKU. Set its Reorder Status to No so it isn’t included in your buying recommendations. Learn how
Set up the new SKU. Make sure it has its supplier, lead time, and other settings in place.
Tip: When possible, edit the SKU code on the existing variant instead of creating a new product. This keeps your history connected automatically.
