Creating a Production Order

A production order is an order for a manufacturer to assemble the products. This is different from a Purchase Order and is contained in a separate tab within the Orders section.

1) Firstly you will need to have already created all your Raw Materials and your Bill of Materials.

2) Head to the Orders section, navigate to Production Orders and select 'New Order'.

3) Select the finished product that will be manufactured and select the correct SKU(s). All selected SKUs should have the label BOM attached to indicate that there is an associated Bill of Materials.

4) You will then be taken to a summary page of the items that will make up this production order.

5) You can add both Additional costs (such as Shipping or Tax) and you can add notes and tracking numbers to the order if required.

5) To add more products that have an associated BOM, select the option 'Add products with BOM' and select the correct number.

6) You can select the Bill of Materials tab to see which materials are associated with the order.

6) There is also a Location tab where the split of Locations for this order are displayed.

7) In the same way as a Purchase Order, the status of the order should be changed to 'Ordered' when ordered. Once received, the status should then be changed to closed and the amount of units received updated accordingly. In the Raw Materials section, any materials previously marked as 'In Production' will be updated accordingly.

Missing Raw Materials

If you see a red 'Raw Materials Missing' message this indicates that when ordering this product(s), there is a deficiency of necessary components needed to make the production.

Select the 'Bill of Materials' tab to see which materials are missing. You will then need to head back to your Raw Materials and create a new order of these raw materials in order to stop this warning.

Raw Materials in Transit

If the correct raw materials needed to satisfy this production have already been ordered but yet to be delivered, they will be marked as being 'In Transit' and the number that are in transit will display.

Example of Production Order

Let's say if you place an order for 5 SKUA that needs 2 RMB each to be produced.

Your supplier had 25 RMB units in stock. Now when you move Production Order to Ordered stated, 15 RMB still remains In Stock and the remaining 10 RMB stays In Production.

Now once the Production Order is closed, you will have only 15 RMB In Stock as 10 RMB is used up.
