What is Sell Ahead?

Sell Ahead allows you to allocate units of stock from incoming purchase orders (PO) to be sold immediately on your store. This functionality is available on ShipHero WMS system, that Prediko can be integrated with.

This allocation is then reflected as an "On Hand" quantity in Shopify, enabling you to sell the stock right away without waiting for fulfilment.

How do you know if Sell Ahead has been added to a SKU?

In the "Buying Table," you can enable the "Sell Ahead" column and then sort and filter by it. This will display the Sell Ahead quantity that has been sent to Shopify from ShipHero.

Keep in mind: The Sell Ahead quantity might exceed the Available amount because some units may have already been purchased by customers. For instance, if you added 20 units as Sell Ahead and 5 have been bought, you'll see 15 units listed as Available.

What does Pre-Order "Health" status mean?

The "Pre-Order" health status allows you to quickly identify SKUs that, despite having no physical inventory currently available, are still pre-selling the ordered amount.

This status is determined by the following criteria:

  • Sell Ahead > 0

    • Indicates that there are units allocated for pre-sale.

  • Shopify Available Stock - Sell Ahead < 0

    • Ensures that the available stock in Shopify, after deducting the pre-sold units, is less than zero. This confirms that there's no physical inventory available.

  • Shopify Available Stock

    • To make sure we don't flag it as Pre-Order when all the stock has been consumed even from Pre-Order

Do "To Buy" units take into account "Sell Ahead"?

Yes, they do. Prediko considers that some of the incoming Purchase Orders may already be consumed or will be consumed by the time of delivery. Therefore, the recommended units to order are calculated taking this into account.

For example:

Let's say SKU A has 100 units ordered to be delivered in 3 months.

Out of these, 80 units have been added as Sell Ahead, but 20 units out of the 80 have already been sold.

Additionally, another 30 units are projected to be purchased by the time of PO delivery in 3 months.

In this scenario, Prediko calculates that out of the 100 units ordered, only 50 units (100 - 20 - 30) will be available for future demand at the time of delivery. Therefore, Prediko considers this adjusted amount for its recommendation calculation for "Incoming" stock amount.

What should I order and when?

The same as for all the SKUs please reference "Best Buying Date" and "To Buy" amount columns to know what to buy and when!
